A leading U.S. automotive manufacturer encountered constant breakage of Type "AS" Tapping Screws used to secure both front brake line brackets to vehicle frame, due to the high torque required to drive and seat the screw.
Replaced the Type “AS” tapping screw with an M8 – 1.25 x 25mm CORFLEX®-‘I’ TAPTITE 2000® screw in 4037 alloy steel to eliminate both the assembly breakage problem.
An added benefit to the manufacturer was the ability to supply the part in metric dimensions, thereby putting the part in line with procurement directions and increased vibrational resistance against the constant subjection of the fastener to vibrational and environmental stress.
